I remember when you said to me

And so we made our sacred vows,

believing that our love could conquer all

But then there was uncertainty, our lives became like fallen leaves

At last we grew enough to see

that our youthful dreams would never be

Our smiles came together, our hearts said believe

But hopes are not enough to keep a love alive

Dreams are gone when the dawn comes and opens your eyes

I'll fly free now like the breeze now in rainbow filled skies

Now those days are long gone by

I think of them without a sigh

And ask myself how will it be

the next time my heart says to me... "Believe"

Maybe it's just selfishness

but I'm not so very anxious

to seal my fate with another ring

that may endure... or sorrow bring
