So many dreams last night… fadin’ fast, almost gone

There I was on a chessboard … lookin’ just like a pawn

You were headin’ for the waterfront… destination unknown

One ship was called “Freedom”, another “Almost Home”

Two sailors, one ocean … another dream to pursue

Two sailors, one ocean … hard to tell what’s true

I left a note by your coffee cup… Didn’t know I’d be alone

I’ll write again tomorrow ... care of “Destination Unknown”

I can see you clearly now… your mind’s within my reach

But one of us is lookin' back from a very distant beach

How I wish I could sail with you … Searchin’ for that spark

Seems I lost my compass somewhere…

and I can’t see a thing in the dark

I found some old letters… your favorite picture too

Hands still trembling … I couldn’t read them through
